Recent Makeup Purchases

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette, Chrissy Teigen BECCA Palette, Loreal Blush in a Rush, Loreal Off White, MAC Peach Blossom, NYX Fortune Cookie Gloss

Hi Beauties! I thought I'd share some of my recent makeup purchases on the blog today because I seem to have acquired lots of new makeup lately and wanted to share it all with you, and thought it would be easier than doing lots of different reviews on each product. I say purchases, one of them was a gift so that one's slightly cheating but I still wanted to include it as I probably won't do a whole post on it!

I have had quite a few new lip purchases lately and I'm not going to lie most of them were inspired by Catherine from Cocoa May - if you haven't seen this girls Instagram and blog you seriously need to (but be prepared to want everything she uses). First up is the NYX Butter Gloss in Fortune Cookie; this is a perfect beigey nude gloss that will look amazing over any lipstick. To me it has quite a sheer pigment to it as it tends to just blend on top of what you're wearing whilst making it look more nude, and it also has the added bonus of smelling amazing.

I also purchased the Loreal Matte Lip Paint in Off White and the Loreal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick in Blush in a Rush. Off White is a nude beige colour, which is quite pale on the lips. I really like pale lipsticks but I think there could be a danger of 'concealer lips' if you go overboard with it. The thing I love most about it is that it isn't as drying as a liquid lipstick but it still has that gorgeous matte finish. It doesn't 'set' on the lips so it still feels comfortable all day and I also find this really easy to top up during the day. Blush in a Rush is a stunning blue-based pink shade, again not overly matte but a nice comfortable semi matte finish. It's a bit darker than my normal pinky nudes such as MAC Angel but it's a nice cheap alternative and a good lipstick to use for work etc.

When I'm not stalking Catherine I do actually find other makeup to buy. When I was at the airport last month I picked up Peach Blossom from MAC. This is a shade I have really wanted to try for a while and believe it or not is the first MAC lipstick I have purchased since I started this blog last November! I am actually surprised by this shade as I thought it would be like every other shade I own (I know, I know, why did I buy it I hear you ask - but you can never have too many nude lipsticks), however it is actually a bit darker than I was expecting. This looks like a very natural lip colour on me and I have to say I really love the more peachy undertones as most of my nudes are more on the pink side.

Next up is the Chrissy Teigen x BECCA Glow Face Palette. This was a gift from Chris for my birthday back in July, and whilst not technically a purchase of my own I don't think I will do a full review as it is a limited edition palette and was released a little while ago now. This is my first ever BECCA product and I have to say I am OBSESSED. The powders in this palette are so silky and they blend out like a dream! I was worried the shades may be too dark for my skin tone but the only one I think is a touch too dark is the highlighter in the Rose Gold shade. However I have been using this shade on my eyes instead, so I have got use out of all of the shades. My only wish for this palette is that the bronzer was one of the bigger pans in the palette as the colour is absolutely gorgeous. It gives an amazing sunkissed colour so I can see me using this up pretty quickly.  Love!

I also purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette when it was in the sale. I have done a full in depth review here if you want to read it, but the short version is that I do love the bronze and highlight shades but the eyeshadows definitely let it down. They just don't seem to match up to her normal eyeshadow quality which is disappointing, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. I have read mixed reviews on it though, so it may have just been me! Have you tried it?

Last but not least I had a bit of a throwback purchase of Estee Lauder Double Wear in the shade Desert Beige. This used to be my all time favourite foundation until my skin turned incredibly dry as I got older and we fell out of love. However back then I didn't take care of my skin properly and definitely didn't understand the importance of prepping my skin properly with serums/moisturisers etc before applying foundation, so that probably didn't help the issue. My skin is still really dry and very dehydrated but I have this weird problem where my makeup just slides off my face in work (and work only - on my days off my makeup stays put all day... weird!). I'm wondering if it's something to do with the air conditioning, but thought I'd put Double Wear back to the test to see how it fairs. I have been prepping my skin before hand and also using my Smashbox Primer Water after application to reduce the dry/matte look to the skin and so far it seems to be working *prays to the foundation angels*.

And there you have it! I probably should have a little spending ban for a while - although I do need to stock up on some regulars soon. What have you purchased lately? Any hits or misses?

xoxo
