Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette: Worth Waiting For?

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette Review

Hello Beauties! Hope you all had a fab weekend and enjoying your Bank Holiday Monday! We went to a gorgeous wedding this weekend and we had a fab time, it was so nice to get dressed up. Anyway, I wanted to talk about this gorgeous gem from Charlotte Tilbury today - the Instant Look in A Palette. I have been lusting after it for ages, so when I saw it on the Charlotte Tilbury website in the sale I had to put it straight in the basket. Was it worth waiting all this time for? Read more to find out!

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette Review

First of all the palette was a bit smaller than I was expecting; but you still get a lot of product for your money. My first impression of the colours was good - they are very subtle but I think it works well for the concept of the palette; they're the sort of colours you can use in a hurry and you don't have to be too careful with them.

The Face Bronze colour and the Face Highlight powders are both gorgeous. They're apparently the same powders you get in the Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette, which is one of my all-time favourites - so it's no surprise that these are my favourite powders in the palette. The bronze powder is so silky and easy to blend, and has a gorgeous colour that gives you a natural contour/shadow to the face. However, just like the Bronze & Glow palette I wouldn't use this as my all-over bronzer. In my opinion, it doesn't have the same warmth I get from my actual bronzers and instead I would use this for a natural contour. I still had to use my Laura Mercier bronzer to warm up my skin enough to the level that I normally like it.

The blushers are both really pretty and I like using them together. I prefer the brighter pop of blush than the 'swish' colour, and I have been using that more to really emphasise the apples of my cheeks. I just find brighter blushers a lot fresher and whilst the 'swish' colour is really natural, I don't think it's a colour I would normally buy. However the two together work really well and I do find that my blush lasts all day when I use them together.

The biggest disappointment for me is the eyeshadows. I know this will probably be an unpopular opinion but don't get me wrong, I adore the brand and so many of her other products. I own three other Charlotte Tilbury eye palettes and the quality of the shadows is phenomenal - they literally are like butter in the pan. For me, these shadows seem really chalky and the colour payoff just doesn't really seem that great. Unfortunately I think my skin tone is too light for the pink shade to actually do what it's meant to and brighten the eyelid area. On me it translates as a very pink shade which actually darkens my eyelid and makes me look a bit sick looking. The champagne shade is probably the best of the three, however again for me the pigment just isn't there. I had to use a lot to cover up the pink and the shimmer didn't really show up. I then used the brown shade to smudge along my lash line but again you could barely see it. I don't know if it's me and maybe the way I'm using it, but I just can't get along with them!

Overall, would I say the Charlotte Tilbury palette was worth waiting for? For me, not really. I'm glad I didn't pay out full price for it, however I am really pleased to have an extra palette with the Filmstar Bronze & Glow shades, as I live for the original. I think if people like a very natural look then they would probably really like this palette, however for me the shadows are almost beyond natural as they just don't seem to show up! This still wouldn't put me off shopping from Charlotte Tilbury as like I said before, the brand really is amazing and this is the first and only thing I haven't fallen completely in love with. If you have any tips for these eyeshadows please let me know!

Have you got the Instant Look in a Palette? What do you think of it?

xoxo
