My Quick Everyday Make-up Look

Quick Everyday Makeup Look

Whilst I do love getting dolled up I usually keep it relatively simple in my every day makeup routine. Sometimes you don't have the time to contour some killer cheekbones or blend out twenty different eye shadows. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in a rush I LOVE to practice those techniques and do high-glam looks. However, when it comes to the normal Monday-Friday daily look, I have to say I'm usually quite lazy and tend to just keep to my 'go-to' makeup. With that in mind I thought I'd share the routine I do when I don't have a lot of time today and hopefully you enjoy!

First up - my base. I will nine times out of ten use my trusty Revlon Colorstay foundation / Lasting Perfection concealer combo for my base and under eyes. I'm really lucky that my skin is pretty good at the moment *touches wood frantically*, so I don't use concealer on my face,. I then set it with my absolute favourite Armani powder... honestly you need this bad boy in your life. I use it literally every day and each pot lasts well over a year.

I then quickly do bronzer and blush. I never really bother to contour on the daily, I just apply my bronzer (usually NARS Laguna) to the tops of my cheeks, forehead and neck and then put (usually too much) blusher on the apples of my cheeks. I LOVE having pink cheeks and I just think you look so pretty and healthy with a bit of blush! I am pretty much using Bobbi Brown Pale Pink blusher every day at the moment. It's one of the ones that looks pretty scary in the pan because it's so bright but when it's on it just looks amazing, and it tends to flatter most skin tones.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

Eyes wise I tend to whip out a trusty cream shadow - mainly for the speed of application and they tend to be quite long wearing. My fail-safe at the moment is Bobbi Brown Golden Pink Shadow Stick (as mentioned in my January Favourites), applied all over the lid and smudged out with my finger. Then I go in with a big fluffy blending brush such as a Sigma E40 and sweep a mid-brown shade such as the Milk Chocolate shade from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (the one to the right of the matte white shadow on the top row) all through my crease.

For eye-liner I line both my waterline and tightline with black gel liner, then I quickly draw a very rough line of the gel liner across my lid. I quickly smudge it out before it dries with a dark black/brown shadow such as Triple Fudge - the top right hand shade (I usually use my Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Liner brush for this). I find this literally the easiest and quickest way to do my liner; smudging it out with the shadow hides how messy it is and gives the impression of a nice smooth line. If I fancy winged liner I extend the shadow out quite roughly and then use concealer to create the wing - I just find this much quicker than trying to perfect the wing with gel liner on a day-day basis. I finish off with a couple of coats of mascara and that's it.

Even if I'm short of time I always do my brows, I just feel so weird without them on! I use NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe and I really love this colour at the moment. I know this is probably some sort of legitimate crime these days A.K.A. The Age of the Brow, but I really don't worry about them being that sharp or perfect for day to day wear. I feel like it's just more important to define them in order to frame your face, rather than worrying about faffing around with sharpening them with concealer etc for a simple day look.

Lastly, I will always finish off with a nude lip or easy to wear colour (surprise surprise!). I find if you don't have a ton of time, rushing a dark or red lipstick can sometimes end in disaster ... well it does for me anyway. I always end up looking like Ronald McDonald if I put red lipstick on in a rush and whilst it's a classic look for Mr McD, it definitely isn't for me.

And that's it! I appreciate that this may not be a 5 minute makeup routine or the quickest routine in the world, but this is a look that I can do before work or when I don't have much time and more importantly still feel confident and feel like myself. What are your go-to products when you're short of time?

xoxo
