January Favourites 2017

January Favourites 2017

Happy first day of February beauties! Can you actually believe how quick January went past?! I swear it was Christmas two minutes ago and my main concern was where my next mince pie was coming from. Now its the first day of FEBRUARY and my main concern is how I'm going to shift the consequences of said mince pie/chocolate for breakfast/eat as much as you like and worry about it later diet. Anyway, I decided to do a little round up of all the things I was seriously loving last month - some slightly newer bits and some rediscovered oldies but goodies.

January was the month I discovered lipstick colours other than pale pink or pale nude! Chris bought me this for Christmas and I have to say I have been loving it! I really like the peachy colour to it, and I couldn't believe how pretty it looked when I had fake tan on and used my darker shade foundation. I have been reaching for this pretty much every day and it has definitely made me want to broaden my lipstick horizons!

I bought this just before Christmas and have written about it in a couple of posts before, but I have found myself using this most days and I love it for a high-street sculpting palette. I know it's not a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow by any means, but if you use that regularly and would rather save it for more special occasions this is quite good for a cheap, every-day alternative.

My all time favourite perfume is Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, but I was utterly unfaithful to it last month and ditched it for Miss Dior. I just can't get enough of the light and pretty floral scent and I have just loved wearing this every day because it's not too sweet for me. (I won't try and describe what notes it has as I'm pretty rubbish with describing perfumes.) Let's face it, the bottle is reason alone to buy it - it just looks so pretty on my makeup table!

NARS Orgasm Blusher

This is a golden oldie for me... I had kind of abandoned it for a while, only really using it now and then. However, I grabbed it out for a makeup look one day and it has totally hooked me back in! I love the perfect coral tone and the delicate shimmer it has. I've really loved wearing this with MAC Kinda Sexy and a bronze eye as they both compliment each other for a lovely peachy makeup look. I will definitely continue using this into the summer as it works with so many different lip/cheek combos!

I love shadow sticks just because they are so so easy to use, really quick to apply and they last all day. This has been part of my every-day makeup most days, especially when I have no time to get ready. I usually put this all over my lid, smudge with my finger, sweep something like MAC Wedge or Cork through the crease then add some chocolate brown eye liner and that's it. It has the most perfect shimmer and it's neither too gold nor too pink- love!

As you know I was really impressed with the Loving Tan's Deluxe Bronzing Mousse, but I have also been loving the wash-off Bronze Shimmer Luminous Cream as well. I was using this to give me a bit of a glow across my chest and neck before I tanned and then I used it to extend the life of my fake tan once it had started to fade. It blends really easily without the use of a mitt and I'm pleased to say it washes off your hands really easily. It's not too shimmery but has just enough to give your skin a bit of luminosity - good for a quick fix when you can't be bothered to do a proper fake tan.

Charlotte Tilbury Secret Salma Lipstick

Another lipstick that has broken me out of my nude-only lipstick cage is this beauty by Charlotte Tilbury. I absolutely love this for a darker pink shade but still natural, and the lip liner matches perfectly. I have been sort of putting the lip liner on, patting the lipstick on top and then rubbing with my finger to give more of that lip-stain look, almost as if it's your natural colour. (Hopefully this is making some sort of sense to you). This was my most surprising January favourite as I never thought I'd be reaching for a colour like this!

Not a beauty favourite, but I have been loving this gorgeous scent as it is fast-forwarding me to warmer months! It smells exactly like strawberry ice cream and I feel like I could bite into the wax melt it smells so good. I became a woman possessed in the Yankee Candle shop when I realised how cheap the wax melts were and I bought loads of different scents - this has definitely been one of my favourites.

For my non-product related favourites- the best film we watched last month was Sing Street, we had seen it advertised in the cinema but never got round to watching it, so when we saw it on Netflix I was really excited to see it! It's just a really nice little film with a few laughs and it definitely puts a smile on your face - good for a Sunday afternoon film or something like that. TV wise I have been well and truly addicted to Gilmore Girls on Netflix, I think I love it even more than the first time I watched it! I don't know why but there's a comforting vibe to it and I just love having it on at the moment; I usually put it on whilst I'm taking blog photos :)

And there you have it - my January favourites! What have you been loving this month? I really want to start reading more so would really appreciate some recommendations and then hopefully I can include a favourite book in a few of my monthly favourites!

xoxo
