Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara Review

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Well this is my first post of the new year! I hope everyone had a fab time on New Year's Eve whatever you ended up doing, and had a nice relaxing New Years Day (possible recovering!). We had a huge roast dinner with my family, played games, watched a few films and the new episode of Sherlock (so happy it is back!). I am really looking forward to getting back into blogging more frequently again as it was quite hard over Christmas to keep up to date with it, so I'm sorry I was a bit absent on here! Anyway, for Christmas my beautiful best friend Lacey bought me the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - she knows me too well and always buys me the best presents. I'd thought I'd do a quick little review on it as I have wanted to try this mascara for a long time!

This little gem is such a cult beauty item, especially over on Instagram, and everyone raves about it. Unfortunately there aren't any Too Faced counters local to me and I've always had plenty of other mascaras in my collection, so for some reason I never got round to buying one. I was so excited when I unwrapped it, I couldn't wait to try it out but I had to wait until I got home from Italy to take some pictures of it! #bloggerproblems

The packaging is so gorgeous on this mascara, it feels very luxurious as it's quite heavy to pick up. I love the pink colour of it, totally girly (plus Instagrammable)! The brush is very different to other mascaras I have; it's 'pinched in' in the middle which I'm guessing adds to the volume boosting/lengthening magic powers of the mascara.

The first time I tried this I was honestly blown away with it. The pigment is a really intense black, and my lashes looked so much fuller with only one coat of it. Usually I have to use a mascara for a couple of weeks or so before I like it - I don't usually like mascaras when they're new because they're too 'wet' if that makes sense. (Does anyone else find this?) This one however, was really impressive from the first application. I'm quite lucky in that my lashes are quite long naturally so in terms of length I would say it's quite similar to my other mascaras, but I really noticed that my lashes had a lovely natural fanned out shape. Two coats of this mascara and my lashes were really full - I think three coats would have been a bit too much. I didn't experience any clumping with this and I also didn't have any smudging or flaky bits drop down when I looked in the mirror at the end of the day.

Overall I am SO impressed with this, I cannot believe I've lived without it for so long! I definitely think it's worth the price tag (£19.00) and would thoroughly recommend it to someone looking for a volumising and curling mascara.

Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?

xoxo

  3. I actually really like this mascara. My lashes didn't feel heavy or coated and it made my teeny tiny lashes really thick and voluminious. But I must say that I experienced some flakes that fell down on my cheeks during the day. But the packaging is beautiful and I love how heavy it feels.
    Have a wonderful evening

    1. It is lovely, it's a shame you experienced some flaky bits! It reminds me a lot of Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara - I know you love that one too! x

  4. To be honest, I'm not a mascara kind of girl since I feel they make my eyes watery and heavy. Or have I just been using the wrong kind of mascara?

    1. Oh that's a shame, it could be the mascara you're using. Mascaras for volume can be quite heavy, maybe you could try an uplifting or lengthening they tend to feel a lot lighter and will lift the lashes away. Bobbi Brown Intensifying Long Wear mascara is good as it has a tiny brush so good if you don't like anything too heavy :) x
