A High-Street Only Makeup Look

High-street/Drugstore Makeup Look

Even though I'm lucky to have a lot of high-end makeup brands in my collection, some of my all time favourite makeup products are high-street heroes. I think that the drugstore makeup brands have upped their game massively, and some of the products out there can rival even the most expensive brands! Whilst I absolutely LOVE my high-end products and wouldn't want to be without them, I don't think you necessarily need to spend lots of money to get high quality these days. With that in mind I thought I would do an entire makeup look using only high-street/drugstore products, getting use out of some products I haven't used in a while at the same time!

For my base I used my trusty and beloved Revlon Colorstay foundation in 180 Sand Beige (combination/oily skin formula). This was a no-brainer for this makeup look as this is my favourite foundation anyway - click here for a more detailed review. Then for under-eye concealer I used Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade 1 Fair. I set this with my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 004 Sandstorm. I haven't used this in ages as I am pretty loyal to my Armani powder, and I have to say I was really impressed! It gave a really flawless finish so I think I will have to use this more often!

For bronzer/contour I used my Rimmel Sculpting Palette in the shade 002. I am really into this product at the moment. I can't believe how nice the bronzing/contour shade is as usually I find drugstore bronzers a bit orange, but this isn't at all! I then used my Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in the shade Seductive Pink. I was obsessed with these at the beginning of last year, and using it again I can see why. These are often cited as a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushers, and whilst I'm not sure if they're an exact dupe they definitely have a similar finish on the skin. The Creme Puff blushers give a lovely sheen to the cheeks as well as a beautiful pop of colour - I would 100% recommend them! For highlight I used the Rimmel Sculpting palette again, to give a nice healthy glow to the skin.

For the eyes I used my Loreal Color Rich Nude Rose Palette - I used the first shade (pearlescent white) all over the lid and up to the brow bone, then the shade fourth from the end (mauve matte shade) through my crease to add a bit of depth. I then finished off by patting the first two colours (pearlescent white and shimmery pink) mixed together in the middle of my lid. For eyeliner I used the Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Liner - I'm not going to lie I am sooooo bad at liquid liner! I think I have got so used to gel liner that I have somehow become totally incapable to use it! I have to say though I really like the deep black colour - gel liner just doesn't seem as intense of a black, so I am going to really try and persevere and get some liquid liner skills.

For mascara I used the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara - I have to be honest, I really don't like this. I am obsessed with the original formula, and it's one of my favourite mascaras, but the waterproof one I just can't get along with it. I was trying to see it out to the end because I didn't want to waste it but I think I'm going to have to repurchase the original one again and give up on the waterproof one.

High-street/Drugstore Makeup Look

BTW - sorry about the iPhone picture, my DSLR and my selfie game were NOT getting along that day (hello Christmas Double Chin) so it was iPhone to the rescue!

For brows, I used my NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe - I mentioned in my New Years Eve makeup post that I had recently purchased this and I have to say that I really really love the colour. I set them with the Rimmel Brow This Way brow gel in the clear shade. I've realised lately that my brows are out to sabotage my makeup pictures... no matter how neat my brows look in real life, as soon as I whip a camera out they suddenly look wild and unruly.

Lastly, on the lips I used my Rimmel Lip Pencil in Eastend Snob, with one of my all time favourite lipsticks Barry M Lip Paint in shade 154 (I'm not sure if it has a name). I then just dabbed a tiny bit of No7 BB Lips in Ballerina over the top for a bit of shine but not too much as I didn't want them too glossy.

And that's it! I really enjoyed doing an all high street makeup look; it's easy to reach for your favourite high end products all the time and it was good to rediscover my love for a few things like my Creme Puff blushes. I need to repurchase Seductive Pink though - I dropped it and the hinge has broken on it!

What are some of your high-street/drugstore favourites? Let me know in the comments :)

xoxo
