My Holy Grail Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Review

I thought I would do a little series on my 'Holy Grail' items - the ones my face just could not live without! I don't have HG status for everything, I'm still searching for the perfect eyebrow pencil for example (any blondes out there hit me up with your suggestions!). Being a makeup addict I have whittled down a fair few products and I would say my Holy Grail items are the ones that I know always work and I can always rely on them. It doesn't mean I don't try anything new or use various other products from time to time... I mean come on, even when you've found the perfect one there's always something in the back of your head saying "but is there anything better"? However having said that, I feel like these products really are the ones I would say are my 'would probably die without them' products and most of them have been for a quite a while.

First up in my HG inventory is the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. I am in LOVE with this bad boy. For me this is the best concealer I have ever tried. It's available in four shades - I wear 1 Fair under my eyes, 3 Medium on my skin for blemishes and if I've fake tanned I'll mix the two together for under my eyes. I apply it with the pointy end of a damp beauty blender and sometimes pat a little more on top with my finger. The texture of this is quite thick and really creamy and so the coverage is seriously impressive - I don't have to wear a corrector underneath even when my dark circles are particularly noticeable, usually if I'm dehydrated or overly tired. The great thing about it is that it blends out very well, you don't have to work hard to get a seamless finish which is great considering the thick texture. The finish is matte, so if you prefer something more dewy then this might not be for you. I always set my concealer with powder anyway so the matte finish is normal for me. On top of all this, it also performs well during the day; I don't have any problem with it creasing.

In addition to being my favourite concealer I also use this as my everyday eyeshadow primer. I used to use eyeshadow primers all the time untill I realised I can swipe this baby over my lids and it does exactly the same job. I use the same shade as under my eyes to give my lids a lift and to cover the darker colour and my eyeshadow stays put all day.

The best part about this concealer is the budget-friendly price; £4.19 for a product which can massively rival higher end products. I'm a great believer in finding the right product for your skin, and spending tons of money on something doesn't always mean you'll have the perfect product for you! Not to say there aren't plenty of high end items that are worth the money but it's great when you can find a high street gem like this one.

The only drawback to this concealer is the shade range. For me it isn't a problem as I only use shades 1 and 3, but if you have a medium-dark or dark skin tone there may not be a shade to match. There are only 4 shades and so I'm hoping that due to the popularity of it they may bring out more shades. Another niggle and I'm being really picky here, is that the writing comes off of the packaging. Not really a major thing but that's why I never put it in my Instagram pictures - it always looks horrible and you can't see what it is. This was a pretty new tube in this post, but you can already see the writing slightly fading in parts.

I would seriously recommend this if you are looking for a high-coverage concealer without spending a fortune. I have this in my every day makeup bag and use it 95% of the time, it's at the point where I've stopped buying any other concealers! Of course there are other concealers I like, but theres something about this one that just tops any others I've tried. I buy my Lasting Perfection concealer at Boots but it is a firm beauty blogger favourite and so sometimes it can be hard to get hold of, I usually buy two if I'm running out and they have it in stock ;)

What's your Holy Grail concealer? (I'm always happy to test-drive others!?)

xoxo

  1. I'm so happy that I bought this concealer when I went to London in September. I haven't used it yet but now I'm very excited. I bought shade 1 Fair because I'm so pale. My favourite concealer at the moment is the Urband Decay one. Also super creamy, blendable and stays on all day.

    1. Hi Desi! I'm excited for you to try it hopefully you won't be disappointed! It really is so good, I think I must be on my seventh or eighth tube now. I always wear 1 Fair too, it's good because it's not too pinky or orangey so it's good for fair skin. Enjoy! Laura x
