My Christmas Travel Makeup

Hello beauties! Christmas is less than a week away can you believe it?! We are really lucky to be leaving for Italy tomorrow to spend Christmas with my boyfriend Chris's family, who live in Tuscany. Still have not started packing, but I thought I'd show you what I'm taking with me. Now normally I take a huge travel makeup bag with me and pack what must cover every eventuality, from everyday makeup to my 'imaginary-situation-of-getting-papped' makeup. This time I have decided to streamline my makeup and take as little as possible... whether this actually happens or not remains to be seen. I can only hope I won't be papped ;)

First up is my beloved Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 180 Sand Beige. For some reason whenever we travel to Italy, my skin gets really spotty so I'm taking a full coverage foundation with me. This is really good at hiding blemishes so I won't have to worry about taking extra concealer. For my under eye concealer I'll be taking my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer which I raved about in this post. I didn't put it in the picture because all the writing has rubbed of the tube so you can't see what it is unfortunately.

Next is my NARS Laguna bronzer, I love this for a healthy glow which doesn't look orange against my fair skin. The neutral colour also means I can build it up for a subtle contour colour if I need to. On the cheeks I'll be using this Bobbi Brown custom palette with the shades Apricot, Nectar and Nude Peach. The empty palette is just £7 and you can slot your Bobbi blushers (and eye shadows if you have any) into them; it also comes in a 4 pan and 6 pan size. I think these are so great for travelling as you don't have to take all the individual blushes!

For eyes I'm taking my custom MAC Pro Palette as it has a good mix of warm and cool neutrals and covers any eye look for the day, and then there are some darker shades if I fancy doing a smokey eye at night. It's quite laid back over there, so I tend to just wear my same day makeup out for the night time. I'm also taking my Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black Ink, and Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (not pictured). I'm using the waterproof one at the moment but I much prefer the normal formula, so when this is used up I'll switch back to the original. I'm also taking my No7 Beautiful Eyebrow Sculpting Pencil in Blonde (not pictured) - this is my second one of these so I do like it, but the colour isn't quite right. Sometimes it's a bit 'reddish' looking, so I'm still looking for a great eyebrow pencil but I really love the style of this one with the brush on the end! Any suggestions for a great blonde eyebrow pencil please let me know!

Lips wise I'm afraid I'm not taking anything too groundbreaking ... neutral, neutral and another neutral! I just wanted to take the ones I know I will use and won't regret bringing so I'm taking my trusty Rimmel Kate Moss No. 03 (not pictured), Barry M Lipstick in No 154 and you guessed it... MAC Angel my all time fave :) I'm also taking my Max Factor lip gloss in Glowing Peach (although seems more of a baby pink colour) which is one of my favourites. The formula is brilliant as it isn't sticky at all and doesn't alter the colour of the lipstick that you put it on top of!

And that's about it! I'm sure some extras will sneak in here and there but I really want to try and keep it minimal. I always take so much makeup and never even use half of it! I also usually put my makeup in the hold and so by taking less if anything happened to my bag at least I'm not losing lots of lovely things! Call me sad but I would be literally devastated if I lost my makeup bag, I'd probably go into mourning and wear black for a week. I know I'm not alone in this one.

Are you going away for Christmas this year? Where are you going and what are you taking with you?

xoxo

    1. Well last time we went I took so much stuff, including loads of Charlotte Tilbury and Tom Ford and all I kept thinking the whole journey was 'if my makeup bag goes missing the whole holiday will be ruined!' ha! So trying to avoid the panic :)

  2. Love this, the Bobbi Brown custom palette is stunning! I am always scared when I take makeup on holiday with me, worried I'll leave something behind or it will break/shatter/get lost/stolen. I am so attached to my makeup it's not even funny. Fantastic post Laura, followed you on Bloglovin' xxx

  4. Firstly, how have I only just found your blog? It's an absolute dream, love it! Secondly, I've never heard of the Bobbi Brown palettes, I have Apricot and it's a gorgeous blush, definitely a good excuse to buy more and build a palette. Thirdly, have an amazing time in Tuscanny, sounds like a dreamy holiday!

    1. I like them because I have quite a few Bobbi blushers and it keeps them all together rather than having them all rattling around separately! Thank you so much, I'm off to have a read of yours now! :) xx

    1. Thank you! Really looking forward to it but also have never spent Christmas abroad so excited to see what it's like! I just need to add a couple more shadows to the MAC palette, and probably get rid of the silvery shade as I bought it ages ago and don't really wear it too much anymore! xx

  6. I sometimes love to wear a neutral lipstick around this time of the year, especially on Christmas day, as I sometimes wear a red lipstick and it just gets everywhere! Also it means you can go a bit heavier on the eyeshadow if you go basic on the lips! xx

    1. Totally agree about the red lips! I end up with it everywhere! And I do like to go heavier on the eyes like you say so best to stick with neutral I think! Xx

  7. I love your Mac palette! I really want to try the Revlon foundation but there isn't a shade light enough with yellow undertones for my skin unfortunately! xx

    1. Thanks Hun! Just need to add a few more shades! Oh that's such a shame, what about Buff? I can't remember the number but I use that sometimes, and it's quite good for a fair one with yellow undertones? I hate that every fair foundation is usually really pink! Xx
