Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils

Charlotte Tilbury Champagne Diamonds and Amber Haze

It was my birthday back in July, and as part of my present my boyfriend treated me to a spending spree in the Charlotte Tilbury store in Covent Garden. (I know, I'm a very lucky girl!) I absolutely love Charlotte Tilbury products and everything I've tried has been amazing quality. Let's face it, most of it is worth buying for the packaging alone. The shop was incredible and totally a make-up lovers/ Instagrammable paradise - glitz and rose gold everywhere (someone tell me where that ceiling light is from ASAP):

Part of my haul were these two Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils in Champagne Diamonds and Amber Haze (£19.00). I knew I wanted Champagne Diamonds before we went in but I decided to go for Amber Haze when I swatched it on my hand - I am a complete sucker for copper/bronzey shades!

I have really fallen in love with cream shadows and shadow pencils in the past year, just because they are so easy to use and the staying power is usually amazing. I haven't used these too much because call me a weirdo but there are just some bits in my collection I save for 'special' although what that 'special' is I never know! Some bits I just like to keep :)

Champagne Diamonds is a beautiful shimmery gold shade. The Charlotte Tilbury website says these pencils have synthetic sapphire particles which have 'natural soft-focus powers, for a smooth, perfect finish.'. The colour is stunning and the finish is pretty, but I wouldn't say these are overly smooth. Compared to a few cream shadows I have tried it felt quite dry across the lid. This wasn't really a problem with Champagne Diamonds but in the darker colour Amber Haze it meant I had to work quickly to get it to blend in the crease.

Amber Haze is a rich bronze shade - definitely on the warm side. CT says this is meant for brown eyes but I honestly think this colour would look good on any eye colour. I have blue eyes and I love wearing these kind of colours as I think it makes the blue pop. As I said before, the dry formula was slightly harder to work with this time but as long as you work quickly it does blend out. The sparkle off this one was really pretty, and a really great evening shade but I felt that it looked a bit 'chunky' on the lids rather than a smooth shimmer.

The upside to these pencils despite the dry formula is that these really do last the day. I got a good 12 hours wear out of my shadow pencils and to be fair I think it would have been longer if I hadn't taken it off myself! This was without the use of an eye primer or base cream shadow so the longevity was really good. I've read some reviews that have mentioned that the lids pop off the pencils, however I don't carry them in a makeup bag so this hasn't been too much of a problem for me.

Overall, I really do like these pencils, especially the Champagne Diamonds for an easy to wear everyday shade. Even though the formula isn't my all time favourite, if you work quickly it isn't too much of a problem. I absolutely love the sparkle they give and they look so pretty on the eyes. I would love to try some of the other colours, especially Smoky Emerald or Amethyst Aphrodisiac for something different!
