6 Tips for Getting Your Makeup to Last All Day

6 Tips for Getting Your Makeup to Last All Day

As a makeup artist people often ask you how to get their makeup to last the whole day. Quite often you apply your makeup in the morning; come midday your mascara is on your chin and you feel like a Madame Tussaud's waxwork who had an unfortunate encounter with an open fire. I used to have very oily skin and I would always suffer with this problem! Nowadays my skin has changed a lot and it is much drier, so this gives me more of a natural advantage in getting my makeup to last. However both dry and oily skin can still use a few techniques in getting your makeup to stay on and hopefully remain where it's supposed to. I have put together a few hints and tips that I have learnt along the way so hopefully you will find them useful! By the way, these tips are just my personal opinion, I cannot completely guarantee they will work for you but hopefully be of some help :)

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Review - Luminous Flush

Hourglass Luminous Flush Review

I am besotted with Hourglass products - even though I don't have many, the ones I do have are just phenomenal quality and as such all of them are firm favourites in my collection. They are however quite expensive, with blushers costing £32 and the bronzers (one of my all time favourites) a whopping £45. Having said that, once you try them and feel the silky soft powders you would gladly sell your soul for one of these babies, and the £32 suddenly seems well worth it to avoid the inconvenience. I also don't think Space NK is in the business of accepting souls for makeup anyway.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation Review

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Review

I know I am probably the last person on earth to review NARS Sheer Glow, but I love trying new foundations and this has been on my 'To Try' list since forever. I haven't bought it before because my skin used to be very spot prone and I have always used full coverage foundations, but everyone raves about it and now my skin has cleared up I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

New Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Lens

Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Lens

Eeeeeek I have a new baby! (Serious heart eye emojis). After having my DSLR camera for 5 years I finally purchased a lens to replace the kit lens it came with. Well I say purchase, this was actually a present from my mum and dad for my birthday back in July (thank you x!). I only just got round to choosing it and after doing a bit of research I decided to go for this one. I have to confess, I just rely on my iPhone to take pictures most of the time. I know the basics of how to use my camera and I like to use it in manual mode, but I just always reach for my iPhone. Mainly because it's quick and easy; I don't feel stupid taking pictures in public and the quality is good enough for Instagram which is pretty much the only social media I really post to regularly! However now I have this blog I thought it was about time I used my DSLR and really got to grips with it.

Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils

Charlotte Tilbury Champagne Diamonds and Amber Haze

It was my birthday back in July, and as part of my present my boyfriend treated me to a spending spree in the Charlotte Tilbury store in Covent Garden. (I know, I'm a very lucky girl!) I absolutely love Charlotte Tilbury products and everything I've tried has been amazing quality. Let's face it, most of it is worth buying for the packaging alone. The shop was incredible and totally a make-up lovers/ Instagrammable paradise - glitz and rose gold everywhere (someone tell me where that ceiling light is from ASAP):

Christmas Gift Guide for the Beauty Junkie In Your Life

Yippee! Now we're well into November it's Christmas in my book- let the singing of Christmas songs commence (much to the joy of my family)! I just love the build up to Christmas, just as much as the day itself... if not more! The atmosphere everywhere is just so lovely and I really enjoy all the activities leading up to Christmas Day, especially planning and buying everyone's gifts. It's just the best feeling when you get something that you know that special person is going to love or something they've wanted for ages. Personally I love to buy presents I know people will get a lot of use out of and with this in mind I thought I'd put together a quick gift guide for all of those buying for their very own beauty junkie... and we all know we've all got at least one ;) Enjoy!

MAC Lipstick Haul

MAC Lipsticks - Creme Cup, Angel, Please Me, Faux
(Left to Right - Faux, Please Me, Angel, Creme Cup)

I absolutely love MAC lipsticks! They are probably my favourite lipsticks (with Charlotte Tilbury coming up a close second); the shade range is amazing and I really like all of the formulas. I picked up another three whilst replacing my beloved Angel, in the shades Creme Cup, Please Me and Faux. I am a self confessed pink lipstick lover; I tend to stick to neutral shades anyway, but for me pink lips are where it's at. Anything too dark makes me look like I died two days earlier and my now lifeless corpse has come back to life, but I really wish I could feel comfortable in dark colours - everyone else looks amazing in them! I wasn't too sure about Faux as I was worried it was going to be a bit dark, but I really fell in love with the swatch on my hand and luckily when I put it on it was a definite winner for me!
